About 30% of school children in Spain do not complete the compulsory part of the educational system it was revealed today. The secretary general of Education, Alejandro Tiana said that although the education for the majority was the best in Europe, 30% of all students did not take the final exams that complete the secondary education courses and thus have not completed secondary education.
One of the prime objectives of EU education is to promote children to continue on to secondary education. According to Tiana Spanish children sit at the 23 place out of the 26 audited for the percentage of those who continue on to higher education.
Norway takes the top position for the percentage of those continuing to higher education followed by Germany. Opposer's to the plan of higher education for all have pointed out that many of the courses in countries higher up the list provide ultimately less opportunity that children would otherwise have in going into the workplace.
