The regions of Barcelona and Girona are under alert because of the risk of flooding following the intense rain of the past twenty four hours.

The Protection Civil is on orange alert in four of the regions of Spain for flood warning. They believe there may be floods in Catalan, the Balearic Islands, Navarra and Aragon.

There is also a risk in Murcia Almeria Granada and Jean and th Asturias.

The rain has cut the rail link between Tarragona and Reus. More than 3000 students in six educational establishments in the provinces of Barcelona and Tarragona have not been able to go to their schools this Thursday.

Since the rain began on the 12th September firemen have assisted at 1500 incidents where people were trapped in their homes.
