The Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has defended the former England captain David Beckham, after he was sent off in the match against Real Betis at El Santiago Bernabeu last night. Beckham received his fifth red card of his Madrid career after lashing out at one of the Betis players, just moments before the final whistle.

After the game, Capello said “it was a foul on Beckham just before the incident and I think the referee was a little heavy handed with the red card”.The goalless draw now leaves Los Galacticos 4 points adrift of last season’s La Liga champions Barcelona, who are playing away at Valencia this evening.
