Great news today. President of the executive Rodriguez Zapatero has told the population that they will have water to drink.
The reason for the cancellation of the Ebro-Seguro project was for environmental reasons; yet Zapatero has not explained how the desalination is to be performed without a great expenditure in power. Meanwhile the fields and crops of the farmers are fed from wells, many illegal,  ever decreasing the water table.

Although the rich golf resorts will be able to pay for the water, most will not have to as they too are on wells.

Over 75% of the resorts have their own water system which drains form the land of Murcia and not from the water companies. The end result is that those who pay will be the Spanish who live and work in Murcia and who have to turn to the water companies for their water not from choice but obedience.

This is not a long term strategy on the part of the Zapatero government. It may be an great photo-opportunity before the European election, but little else. Agua Para Todos means that the people of Murcia should have a right to a supply of fresh water and not be held to ransom by the water company.
