On Saturday demonstrations were organised by the PP (Partido Popular) against the present governments policy toward the Basque Region.

"Numbers quoted indicative of misrepresentation of political policies to the Spanish people."

Mariano Rajoy president of the PP was objecting to the governments release of the Basque terrorist Juana de Chaos who was released ten days ago after hunger striking for three months.

The terrorist was released on compassionate grounds as he was said to be close to death. He has since recovered. Rajoy has accused the government of being incompetent and intent on following left wing political dogma.

According to the PP nearly three million attended the marches, however the ruling government under Rodriguez Zapatero claimed that at most there were 400,000.
