Spain Has World's Largest Rooftop Solar Panels

Guardian Spain

The largest rooftop solar power station in the world is being built in Spain. The installation will have a capacity of 12 megawatts of power and is to be based on the rooftop of a factory in Zaragoza. The station is made up of 85,000 lightweight panels covering an area of two million square feet and is to be maintained by a private company.

The photovoltaic cells have been manufactured by a machine resembling a printing press allowing the storage in rolls. Spain is well know for its enthusiam for alternative energy sources and has already the largest solar farm in the world in Andalucia southern Spain. 

At present 54% of avalable Spanish energy comes from renewable sources.
